Apartment Glamour - This image was done as part of job last year using a 1DsII and a Tamron 28-75 zoom. The photo was taken in a narrow hallway, so space was pretty tight. Exif data for that image was at 75mm though. In situations like this you should be fine around that sort of focal length and at a push you could get away with 50mm most of the time, however, be warned

Topless - Sifting through a storage area underneath the stairs a large box that contained roughly a dozen folders with a large chunk of my old film archives gave way to a trip down memory lane. In the first folder I found, the transparency for this image which is actually from the very last job I did on film before my first experiments with digital.

Location Location Location - This was shot as part of a series for a beauty fitness editorial in Italy, so first of all I needed a model with an athletic physique, but it was equally important to find a suitable location, so that it didn’t completely dominate the subject i.e the model, but instead helped to create the desired feel for the whole set of images.

Black N White - Although I received quite a few plaudits and appreciation for my images like this I quickly discovered that it wasn’t paying the bills and I vividly remember the day when an art director at a top magazine spoke plainly, explaining that the images were beautiful, but if I wanted to work regularly I had to produce work that was cleaner and more commercial.

It's all glamour - Photographers who have only ever worked with digital have no concept of what it used to be like when you had to fight with clients and art directors to avoid losing all your images constantly. This was a real nightmare because you naturally wanted to stay on good terms with the people you worked with, but it also placed you in a really difficult position.

Blast from the Past - As a new photographer this was a risky strategy because I could have completely alienated the head booker at one of the best agencies in the world, which would have a major blow for my fledgling career. I must have struck a chord though because she took me seriously.

Fine Photo Art - It goes without saying when shooting by candlelight that you have to be a bit more careful than usual because nobody wants to start a fire, especially if you are in a place with lots of soft furnishings like a bedroom, so  placing your candles on trays that will catch the wax and make sure they are placed in secure positions away from any place that could catch fire.
